9:00 PM—the doors open. 9:30 PM—Friends of Rachael takes the stage. Around 10:15—Second Hand Flapjack takes the stage. Both acts provide an excellent opening to what’s coming, and we’re grateful they shared the bill with us.
Around 11:30—showtime. All jacked up and ready to go…crank ‘em up and let’s get after it. Extra special thanks, again, to Brad Skinner and Roger Dennis. Check those lights out—did Brad make us look good or what? We’ve been marveling over the pictures ever since we got them developed—the lights looked GREAT. Thanks Brad! Feedback—perhaps a poor choice of words considering who this part is about—tells us that we sounded really, really good, too. Many thanks to Roger for that—he tweaked the house system at the Lincoln just right and made us sound as good as the lights looked. If what we heard during soundcheck was any indication, it was most excellent. It was great—many thanks to the special guests: Don Parker on guitar (an original member of Cirkus); Jeffrey Foster on guitar (Steve’s grandson, if you can believe that!)—rock on Jeff!; Erin Carmichael on bass and backing vocals (Sean’s daughter, a chip off the old block); and David Baker on drums (a long time friend that has sat in on drums almost every time we ever played Raleigh). It was marvelous playing again with those of you that we had before, and absolutely thrilling to have our progeny playing with us—how cool is that? |
